JJO 2024
Planning is well underway and the event will look much like last year.
The Friday Skills day organized by the Alberta North Zone Ski Racing Society(Chad) is a go again!
New racer and volunteer swag has arrived too!
JJO 2023 is a Wrap
JJO 2023 is in the books. We had a few hurdles this year but with the strong capacity of volunteers throughout the north zone, it all came together. Check out the acknowledgments page and posted Sunday results on the JJO 2023 tab. Sunday awards that were not given out will be distributed over the next few weeks and at Rabbit Hill Lauberhorn if needed.
Please reach out to me if you would like to let us know what went well and what could be improved. I will not guarantee we can accommodate every request, but they will all be considered.
The ROC hopes that everyone enjoyed themselves and is eager for next year. Book your hotel rooms now.

Registration is open!
Ensure you also sign the racer waiver!
We are very excited that JJO is getting soooo close! only 2 weeks away.
A few volunteer spots are still required, thank you all for filling them up so fast.
A new Chief of Race for Lower course is needed for next year and it is important that this person shadow on lower this year if possible. Ideally this person has younger kids(6-7 years old), is at least a level 1 official, and is can give direction to others.
The rest we can teach you, or at least Tyler can. Please reach out if you have any questions. This is an ROC spot, so you also get to help steer the direction of the entire JJO MACHINE!
MARCH 4th and 5th will be race days and Friday will be a skills assessment day that will be lead by North Zone Chair and North Zone coaches. Check out the info here.

We are evaluating what went well and what we would like to change so please reach out to me with any comments you may have, or fill out an event quality report.

JJO 2022
Execution Complete!
The 2022 Jasper Junior Olympics was ran on March 5th and 6th, with 451 racers.
There was easing of Covid restrictions so we had had an EPIC awards ceremony, with help from Alberta Alpine President Patrick Gillespie and our GMC sponsors.
LUMBERJACK theme this year added to the fun and we saw many others join in with their own buffalo plaid. I hope athletes managed to complete Marmot's Munchies Animal Adventure to receive a cool new JJO sticker and prizes, definitely saw a few teams working on it.
12 year old racers were eligible for this years JJO as they missed out on what would have been there final JJO last year. Thank you for coming out and showing us how its done one final time.
This is an Alberta North Zone race and it really showed, as we had volunteers from every club step up to take part. The ROC was made up of Cold Lake, Rabbit Hill and ESC and we would like to add another club to the mix next year as we need a new Chief of Volunteers.
Please find our new Facebook page and start following to keep up to date. LINK BUTTON AT THE TOP.

JJO 2021
February 1st 2021
Sometimes the wheels fall off your plans!
JJO cancelled for 2021.
As the challenges with Covid continue on in the province, we have to regretfully cancel the 2021 Jasper Junior Olympics. The event as we know it is not possible to facilitate safely at Marmot. This is not the year I imagined it would be, and not a great start to my tenure as JJO Chairmen, but that means we will spend more time planning an epic come-back event for 2022. The volunteer effort at JJO and the camaraderie that comes with it will surely be missed this year, as the North Zone always makes it feel like a family event. Yet we must be thankful that through all of this uncertainty, we can continue to train and develop our racers, and I look forward to seeing the progression across the clubs next year.
See you on the Mountain!

Little Olympians: Marmot Basin hosts 41st Jasper Junior Olympics
Fuchsia Dragon | publisher@fitzhugh.ca
Hundreds of speedsters descended on Marmot Basin last weekend for the 41st Jasper Junior Olympics.
The epic weekend of races saw young athletes from across the province compete to win coveted Olympic bells.
And Jasper athletes took some of the top spots.
Day one had racers compete individually on two different courses over two runs. The four- and five-year-old athletes had two fun runs on a course on School House while the older athletes took part in Giant Slalom events on Dromedary.
That day, Jasper skier Alexis Lahaie won first place in the age six men’s lower course race and Charlotte Bisaillon won third in the women’s. For the age seven’s, Elliot Vassallo won first place in the men’s race.....
